ASA-U.S., Others to Host Economic Summit in Anambra

New President of Anambra people resident in the USA (ASA-USA), Dr. Allison Anadi, has said the organization and other reputable organizations with interest in developing Anambra State, will be organizing an Economic Summit in the state soonest.

He said other organizations scheduled to participate in the joint Economic summit included League of Anambra Professionals (LAP), ASA USA , ASA World and the state government.

Dr Anadi commended the Anambra State Government for the efforts at developing the State.

He made this comments at the State House after the meeting with Governor Obi and other officials of the State on their activities for the year, especially their various missions to the State, namely, Medical, Education, Women and Children (micro-financing), Research and Development missions.

Dr. Anadi said that the aim of the meeting was to discuss the best way those missions would be of greatest benefit to the people of the State. He disclosed the plans by ASA-USA to establish Youth Leadership Academy and other programmes that will assist in building the youth.

While answering questions from State House Correspondents, Dr. Anadi expressed satisfaction over the attention being paid to areas that will add value to the State in future. He was particular about the buses given to some schools in the State, which he noted would help them in meeting the day-to- day running of the schools as well as assisting those with special needs.

On the on-going development of the Anambra State University site at Igbariam, he observed that it will help enhancing teaching and learning as well as provide access to higher education to the youth of the State. He commended the building of the Faculty of Agriculture and called for the setting up of the Departments of Transportation and Criminal Justice Department.

He was full of kind words for the Government for the setting up of the Road Maintenance Agency and for acquiring equipment for the Agency, which he said was a way of reactivating maintenance culture in the system. He noted that it help in protecting the heavy investment already made by the State on roads. While commending the good network of roads in the State, he expressed shock at the condition of Federal roads and called on the Federal Government to intervene urgently.
